Max Hunt began learning the piano at the age of 5 and has performed piano/keyboards both solo, and in groups since 1981.
He was featured on his first professional recording for (PRT's Birdsnest Records) with the group ECLYPSE at the age of 15.
Max regularly performed with top function bands including ECLYPSE and CULPEPPER from 1983 onwards and quickly progressed on to succeed in getting his own instrumental compositions published by Chappel/Zomba.
In 1993 this all culminated with Max setting up his own production business, playing and recording professionally and Max also started to teach privately.
Over the years Max also studied cello, saxophone, guitar and piano accordion and now continues to play piano/keyboards, guitar and piano accordion as well as singing lead and backing vocals with various projects.
Max has worked extensively for local educational authorities on Performing Arts courses and projects, provided music workshop facilities and worked with a number of small theatre companies on highly artistic projects.
Since '93 Max has released five CDs with his own original band 'TANTALUS', touring extensively throughout the UK as well as performing at clubs and festivals in France, Germany, Belgium & Holland with them.
He has also produced several albums of his own original instrumental music which are currently being remastered for re-release on CD.
In 2002 Max joined UK's premiere YES tribute band FRAGILE, and toured regularly with them for 5 years including regular work with legendary YES and ASIA guitarist STEVE HOWE.
He has also worked in various capacities with FISH, Jon Anderson, BJ Cole (Sting), Guy Evans (Vander Graph Generator), Dana Gillespie, Albert Lee (Bill Wyman etc.), Nigel Mazlyn Jones (Barclay James Harvest, Roy Harper), Richard Sinclair (Caravan), Sonja Kristina (Curved Air), Johnny Martyr (Voyager, Marillion, Fish, SAS Band, Bonzo....) and Chris Hook (Voyager) to name a few.
He continues to undertake live and studio sound production work as well as teaching keyboards/piano (specialising in the ABRSM Jazz Piano Syllabus with which he continues to enjoy has a 100% pass rate).
The immense benefit of Max's classical training has combined with long experience in performing live in a wide range of contemporary genres and has lead to Max playing by ear and improvising as well working from scores, often combining these skills to great effect. Current projects that Max is involved with include his own original innovative rock band TANTALUS, an original project based on the Arthurian legends called ARTORIUS, his own function band IGNITION, the duo ARIETTA, the new YES tribute project AWAKEN, Pink Floyd triibute act PIG FLOYD, traditional folk band SENSIBLE SHOES and the Acid Jazz band ASBO.
He uses an extensive and flexible keyboard set-up, featuring a range of pro-end Korg, Roland, Yamaha, Peavey & Alesis gear to capture a vast array of classic through to modern keyboard sounds.
Max has a great love of Classic and Progressive Rock as well as traditional British and European Folk music, but is equally at home performing Country, Jazz, Reggae, Pop, Modern Dance.
As a keyboard player his influences are wide a varied but particularly include Vangelis, Geoff Downes, Rick Wakeman, Tony Kay, Jon Lord, Rod Argent, Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea and Keith Jarret.
